We as educators really need to revisit the premises underlying No Child Left Behind to see if current data supports its ultimate goals. That is are more students across the board proficient in reading and math than when the act came into effect 9 years ago? What do graduation rates tell us, especially for minority students? I think careful examination of the data will show that the act needs to be re-evaluated.<br /><br />On a side note, I was astonished at the middle school students lining up (??!!) outside the lunchroom with their arms crossed (??!!). It certainly doesn't reflect my experience with middle schoolers in my area.
